WORLD     SERVICE

at home

Packaging

Whilst a takeaway service can fill us with joy, excitement and fulfilment,

it isn't always the best thing for our environment

Packaging

We've been working hard to make sure all of our packaging used for your World Service at-home box isn't just transporting your meal to you safely, but also won't be adding to the piles of single-use plastic damaging our environment

How to dispose of your packaging

safely

Before disposing of any containers, please rinse them to make sure they are clean of excess food

ALL OTHER CONTAINERS AND TAPE USED TO CREATE YOUR MEAL

To dispose of these simply put them in your home compost bin and they will naturally break down over time, releasing nutrients to enrich the soil

If you don't have a compost bin, please use your general waste bin - it will break down, but will take longer to do so

Although we are not there yet,

we're aiming to reach

100% compostable packaging

with future World Service at-home meals

We're striving to do our bit to reduce our waste and be more environmentally friendly

Why are we aiming for compostable packaging?

Whilst recycling is great for reusing, repurposing and reducing our overall waste, it still requires a lot of energy and resources to transport, sort, clean, breakdown and recycle these items

Compostable materials, on the other hand, can break down naturally over time in the right conditions. They provide the earth with nutrients instead of releasing toxic elements into the soil and atmosphere

If you are lucky enough to have an outside space or garden area, composting at home is one of the easiest and environmentally responsible methods of getting rid of waste

Recycle for Nottinghamshire have teamed up with GetComposting.com to make it super easy for you to start composting at home

- all you need is a compost bin and 1m2 of outside space!
